China’s greatest hero Yue Fei
being tattooed by his mother with 精忠報國 (jīng zhōng bào guó) which
literally means, "diligence, loyalty, service, country," taken
colloquially to mean, "serve the country loyally", on his back before
he left home to join the army in 1122. This served as a constant reminder to
protect China at all costs.
Yue Fei, posthumously Yue Wu
Mu, served the Song Dynasty loyally and was undefeated in 126 battles with the
invading Tartar army. He was betrayed by inner court intrigue and
executed on unproven charges.
He is held up as a model of
heroism, integrity, compassion, loyalty, and consummate martial art
skill. He is the legendary founder of XinYi Liu He Quan/XingYi
Quan. See Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yue_Fei.
Also see the article on the origin of XinYi Quan below (still in progress).

The Origin of XinYi Liu He Quan
by Bob Lau
Legend has it that Xin Yi Liu
He Quan was complied by Yue Fei, and was written down in his Quan Pu, boxing
manual. The manual was lost for many centuries until it was discovered in the
hollowed truck of a tree.
However, the historical story
is that a former solider of the Ming Dynasty developed Xin Yi. His name was Ji
Long Feng 姬 隆 丰. During the time of the new Qing
Dynasty, many former Ming Dynasty military personnel went into hiding to plot
the overthrow of the new rulers. Ji LongFeng was one of them. Ji Long Feng was
well known for his skill with the long spear. He went about the country seeking
out people to join in the rebellion against the new rulers. The Qing rulers
were not considered Chinese as they were from Manchuria.
Ji Long Feng would carry his
spear wherever he went and accordingly, he became well known. He had happened
about a Taoist monk. The monk seeing the spear knew immediately that it was Ji
Long Feng. The monk then posed a question why do you always carry a spear
around, why can't you use the same spear techniques for empty hand boxing?
Ji Long Feng never thought
about this and he went into seclusion for several days to think about the
monk's question. It is said from this question that Ji Long Feng developed Xin
Yi Liu He Quan. Mind Intent Six Harmony Boxing.
The harmonies are broken down
into External Harmonies and Internal Harmonies:
External Harmonies: Hand and
Foot; Shoulder and Hip; Elbow and Knee
Internal Harmonies: Mind and
Intention; Intention and Qi; Qi and Strength.
